The ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2026 Organising Committee has revealed the final event schedule and ticket price categories. Returning to the Czech Republic for the first time in 33 years, the championships will take place from 24–29 March 2026 at Prague’s O2 arena.
Organizers expect high interest of fans from home and abroad
The local organizing committee of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2026 continues its intensive preparations. At the end of March, its representatives promoted the “Prague Championships” at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston, with a dedicated booth and meetings with International Skating Federation leadership. “We received excellent feedback from both the ISU and fans. The visuals were well-received, and many expressed genuine excitement about coming to Prague in large numbers,” said Stanislav Židek, President of the Czech Figure Skating Association. “I’ve also been in direct contact with the ISU President, who shared our enthusiasm. With the ISU World Fugure Skating Championships returning to Europe after four years, Prague—renowned for its beauty, accessibility, and figure skating tradition—offers the perfect stage. Expectations are high, and that drives us to deliver an unforgettable event just like the European Championships in Ostrava and the Junior Grand Prix recently.”
A Competition Schedule Designed for Fans – and a Home Advantage
In late April, ISU officials, marketing partner IMG, and broadcasting partners visited Prague for an official site inspection. The delegation approved the final event schedule proposed by the local organising committee. The championships kick off on Tuesday, 24 March with official practices. “We’ve prepared a schedule that appeals to both international and local audiences, especially emphasizing strongest category of Czech figure skating recently,” said Karel Oubrecht, Secretary General of the Czech Figure Skating Association. The competition begins on Wednesday with short programs for women and pairs. Men take the ice on Thursday, and ice dance category—including two Czech teams—debut on Friday.
The first medals will be awarded in the pairs after their free skating on Thursday evening (from 18:15 local time). The top 24 women will compete for medals on Friday at 18:00. “The most exciting part for Czech fans, comes at the very end. The men – free skating — figure skating’s most-world-watched discipline — starts at 12:30 on Saturday, followed by the „grand finale“: ice dance, traditionally Czech strongest category,” said Oubrecht. On Sunday, the event concludes with the fan-favorite Exhibition of Champions. “We believe the schedule has been designed to be attractive, and we hope our athletes will delight the audience in the O2 arena with strong performances,” concludes the Secretary General of the Czech Figure Skating Assocition.

Vrast’áková: “Skating in Prague Would Be a Dream Come True”
Czech hopes are high, with ice dance siblings Natálie and Filip Taschlerovi and Kateřina and Daniel Mrázkovi securing two spots for the host nation. Michaela Vrast’áková, who was ranked 19th in at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2025, is also vying for a spot. “I’m proud of my performances this season—everything came together just as I hoped,” said the reigning national champion. “I managed to qualify for the free skating at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn and I gained confidence and valuable experience. And that is my main goal for the coming months,”
“Prague is a main goal in my preparation. Since I have already been able to win the national championships and secure my participation in a major international event, I would like to repeat the same this year. And the next ISU World Figure Skating Championships could be the next milestone. If I could do it, it would be a gift for me, but especially for my family and fans, whom I would thank for their immense support with my performance on home ice. I only compete abroad and Prague would make it all the more special.” Vrast’áková added.
